AAA (Andhrapradesh American Association) comes to you our extended family to celebrate the Samoohika Varalakshmi Kumkum Pooja with with you all as part of our cultural celebration.
Samoohika Varalakshmi Kumkum Pooja (fasting) this year falls on the 2nd Friday of Shravana Masam (Indian calendar) before the Full moon day on August 25th, 2023. It is an auspicious day for married women who observe fast and pray to Goddess Lakshmi for the wellbeing of family members.
It is widely observed and a very significant festival in Southern India and is mainly celebrated in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
It is said in the ancient texts that once Goddess Parvathi asked her husband Lord Shiva to help her with a ritual which can help people be relieved from their sorrows and bestowed happiness and prosperity.
Women on this day offer prayer to Goddess Lakshmi placing a Kalasam on raw rice and decorating with flowers. Later they invite the women and girls to their homes to offer prasadam and treat them as Goddess Lakshmi herself and seek blessings from them.
Let us all again come together and celebrate this together and be blessed by Goddess Lakshmi.
We hope to see you all and be part of
